Baptisms and Baby Blessings

Celebrating Your New Baby with Baby Blessings By Rev. Lyn

A baby blessing, baptism, christening or child naming ceremony helps you truly celebrate the arrival of your child and give thanks for the miracle of life. It enables you to formally welcome your child into the family, faith, and wider community. This beautiful event creates the potential for all those present to open their hearts and express their wishes and blessings for your child and their life to come.

My blessing and baptism services can be for any mother to be, whether adopting or expecting, and any child, newborn or adoptive, and of any age, older children and adults included. I am honored to work with all faiths, beliefs, traditions, lifestyles and practices. The Blessings and Baptisms can be performed anywhere. They can take place at a home or backyard, outdoors in nature at any park or beach, in a party room or section of a restaurant, in a pavilion or hall, anywhere you would like to celebrate. All of my services can be personalized, and be as creative or as simple as you would like it to be. This is a day to celebrate your most precious of gifts, your child.

The ceremony enables significant family members and friends to be included in this process. It is a wonderful way of involving other children from the family in welcoming their new sister or brother into the world. Ceremonies can also be created for older children or to welcome an adopted child into his or her new family.

Most are familiar with Baptisms and Christenings, but are unfamiliar with a Baby Blessing. A baby blessing, (welcoming, naming, dedication, glistening) is a ceremony that celebrates and welcomes your child into this world, this lifetime, this family and community. These ceremonies are an alternative to a traditional Baptism or Christening. They can be tailored to be spiritual, creative, metaphysical or concentrated on the connection between parent and child or the importance of family or meaning of their name or the celebration of their child's journey. They can include vows of unconditional love, guidance and care and promises to their child or their gratitude to be parents. They can also be used for couples of mixed faiths wishing to bring both religions into the celebration of welcoming their child into the world.

I look forward to joining the celebration of your child. I will bring sincerity, presence and awareness of the moment, making you, your child, your guests, feel comfortable and a part of a very special day!
